Buying a new house in India is a headache and so when you finally get possession and want to get the interiors done, you realise that a new headache awaits you — disorganised contractors, sub-quality work, and delays. That’s where companies like LivSpace, HomeLane and MyGubbi come along — claiming to be your one-stop shop for all your interior work from design to installation. Our previous review was based on someone we knew. Since that has become quite dated, we are updating this review based on a customer who reached out to us. The review below is by Tanuj Sachdeva.
Discovering LivSpace.com – A Real Customer’s Feedback
It is after a great deal of inconvenience and agony that we are writing this feedback form. We really hope this gets to the concerned individual/team and there’s adequate action taken because we wouldn’t want anyone else to face the same situation and suffer the same amount we did.
Great Design and Experience Centres, but Empty Promises
In a nutshell, our feedback for the whole LivSpace team is extremely poor and disappointing.
What started with a lot of glam and empty promises by the sales team, turned out to be a miserable experience. At the very onset once the ‘site’ was made available, there were issues that started cropping up. Here is a ‘small’ list of issues in chronological order:-
Innumerable Delays by Livspace
1) Innumerable delays with civil work due to a clear lack of workforce e.g the site was handed over in the first week of February and only a couple of men worked on the site for the first month and a half. Additionally, the so called ‘Supervisor’ deputed on the site after a delay itself lacked the technical skills and experience to be able to deal with anything, which forced us to get involved at each and every step possible.
Poor Quality Work
2) Along with the delays, it was coupled with further disappointment due the extreme poor quality of work that was happening e.g the brick quality that arrived at the site was in shambles, it was only after repeated complains that it was changed. Another lack in quality was shuttering wherein gaps were extremely visible in the roof, to mention another one, the quality of tile laying was poor as well. All this poor quality work forced us to find other avenues and take all of these things in our personal scope(which by the way defeats the whole purpose of giving a so called corporate i.e LivSpace the full contract)
Lack of coordination and changing prices
3) Once all the dismantling was done, we were hopeful the situation would get better but it only got worse from thereon. There was a clear lack of coordination between the designers and the civil contractor to an extent where there were open disagreements on between the two on the WhatsApp group that was formed for the project. 4) Once the delivery of all modular equipment was done, another extremely ‘funny’ event occurred when we checked the price list. Out of a list of approximately 100s of things, we randomly checked the price of one product that was charged to us and surprisingly enough the price of that very product had reduced on the website as compared to when it was charged to us. In a world where prices generally rise, the price of LivSpace articles apparently decrease and the non-sensical explanations that followed were nothing short of absurd.(this was just a result of a random check we did, not too sure how prices would have changed for other articles)
Incessant Delays by Livspace
5) Once we got nearer to completion there were again incessant delays due to a variety of different reasons. To give you a gist of the delay, the site was first supposed to completed by June 24th, which then got shifted to August 31st(there was a gap in July when the site wasn’t available), which thereafter got shifted to September 30th. We finally shifted in the last week of October. Even if we consider a month long delay from all the jobs we took in our scope, there is no explanation for the additional delay of 2/3 months.
Deep Cleaning & Lack of Response
6) Once we shifted, the LivSpace team was supposed to carry out a deep cleaning session which never materialized. Even after it did, it was as shabby as it gets. Let alone deep cleaning, there was no cleaning whatsoever. After repeated reminders on the WhatsApp Group there were no replies at all(I should mention this again that the WhatsApp Group was put in place for coordination but it is just a one sided group where we used to put out our problems and there was zero accountability/ownership from the apparent ‘leadership’ that existed on the group)
A Year of Mental Anxiety
With all the issues mentioned above, I’m sure my whole family has gone through a year long full of anxiety and mental trouble. I would again mention how I’d really hope no one else has to go through any of this trouble especially when it involves lifelong savings. The only solution to all this according to me is ‘Not choosing LivSpace’.
Other Customer Reviews
Since the review above could just be a one-off, I went through some MouthShut reviews for LivSpace. By and large, the reviews were quite positive. Of course, there were several 1-star reviews, detailing similar problems as Mr P above — promises undelivered, usually related to sub-par work and timelines not being met, but most of the reviews seemed positive.
Later discovery: MouthShut is more of a blackmailing platform rather than a place for honest reviews. Apparently they charge companies a monthly fee (of several lakhs) to filter out the bad reviews and leave only the good reviews. And the opposite happens to companies that do not pay — good reviews are removed and only bad reviews are left. Yikes!!
I’m not sure if our case was a one-off and whether other companies also struggle with execution at times. (Do share HomeLane interior reviews or MyGubbi reviews if you have had good or bad experiences!)
LivSpace Design Partner Review
I next went to Glassdoor to check what the designers are saying — and well, it’s quite concerning from a customer perspective. If even LivSpace designers are saying timelines are not being met, I’d be quite wary.
Overall Thoughts
I’m quite interested to know whether LivSpace is doing a good job or not? The mixed reviews have really confused me. If you have used LivSpace before — please do share your review below, mentioning your city, your apartment name and your thoughts!
Cheats they are.They give less quotes to make booking and then vanish.
The final rates will be higher and treat us as if doing us a favor.Not great quality but drag like anything. Money minded people with no ethics.Causes us loss of money and anxiety as the house is stuck.

I wish I could have read these reviews before going to livespace. I faced all bad experience mentioned here. I paid 30k as a booking ammount, which I let it go after facing all these bad experiences.

Livspace = Deadspace. Never again. 1 year later….nothing has been done, my money is stuck with them so my hands are kinda tied. I could have delivered a baby in the span of time Livspace has taken to lift a finger on a project. Please don’t get swayed by their preliminary designs, those are just to get you to transfer money. After that, your money is in their hands and they will exploit the situation to the hilt, delays after delays…a quote of 3 lakhs for a glass enclosure jumped to 21 lakhs in 2 month, and dont beluev ebery quote you see, take a physical copy and keep it for reference cos when there was a massive jump, they couldnt find the previous quote with the 3 lakhs quote. They found it only after I was relentless. On escalation, they will rotate their design personnel and masquerade them as senior management. Especially Livspace Alwarpet, Chennai. Their best work has been to protect their ops head and branch head from all client issues. In that they provide 100 percent protection. Not 99.6 but 100 percent. A couple of underlords called Praful and Anand run that sinking ship, and to get that information of who is running the show, I had to wait 9 months.

Simply they are cheating the people with one tag line “10 year warranty”. normal carpenters are more better than this company. Poor knowledge on interiors, they don’t have enough designs and they will force to accept their standard models and colors. no commitment on customer deliveries. Every time they will start quarrelling internally Infront of customers regarding delays. at starting of the project they will quote one price according to customer requirement later the quote will remain same and the customer need to comprise on what he is getting from Livspace. every time customer needs to chase Liv space for deliveries. finally its a third class company.

I have a very bad exprience with livspace…. They are highly unprofessional, very bad service and quality of modulars are very poor, mudulars are giving problem in the span of only 6months….. At the time of payment they need eveything in advance and they promise lot of things which they fail to fulfill….. Workers workig on site are very unprofessional, spitting PAN all over the bathroom space, spilling glue all over the floor. Very dirty and unhigenic site at the time of handover and after you complain their blame game starts….. Even inspite of complaining about the mopdulars there is no specific revert from the team, whenever you mail or call them they always raise a new complain no but no call or no one comes to visit the site. always FAKE promises.

HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL….WRONG COMMITTMENTS…. CONTINUOUS DELAY IN DELIVERY……..NEVER EVER….!!!
They left me utterly frustrated and disappointed with their services. They made extravagant promises and commitments before I made the payment for my home renovation project, but once the 50% payment was made, everything fell apart.
The timeline for my project ID 1568611, which was initially set to 30 days – As i wanted a early delivery for a purpose, became a mere guideline as Livspace continuously pushed back the completion date. Their explanations were often vague and unconvincing, and it felt like they are moving away from their commitments.
Livspace’s commitments were nothing but empty words. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I strongly advise against engaging with such UNETHICAL company. My experience with Livspace was a frustrating and disheartening lesson in the importance of thorough research and caution when dealing with kitchen & wardrobe providers…
NOTE: I am writing this review because of DEEPAK who was completely fine if i write a negative review about your company…. SO better to keep your real face on review platforms..
I would like to share my experience.
It started with a call from Livspace (Event before you get a possession) stating that there is a Free Expo, where in we can experience their quality and service. So we went as everyone does (Trusting a Good BRAND) everything went well, presentation was given, then we informed to LivSpace Executive that our Builder will be delaying the possession so we cannot opt for it now, will do it later once we have a possession. First they will forcefully CONVENCE DO OPT BOOK it by paying HARD EARNED 25k. (Where in they provided some % of discount which will be applicable) but our condition was we will do it only when we have a possession WE HAVE CLEARLY MENTIONED THEM. And opted in month of AUG 2023.
Now they keep calling and doing followup’s wherein we already informed them that the possession will be around Dec last week 2023. And almost after a month (Since we opted for it) they call and informed that the price is HIKED by 5%.
So we asked them why it was not clarified while Booking, they said they were not aware, but it happens every year, hike was around 5% on the Material COST, (The only concern what i has why it was not informed to us or at least provided us a Rought IDEA about it) THEY SAID they will keep the same rate till Dec but its completely useless because of the delay in possession. So what i have requested to extend it to Jan or feb or add the same % in the discount which they offered at the first time. Livspace completely denied and not even ready to understand the situation. So i said i like to withdraw and dont want to continue and asked to cutoff their charges and give me the remaining amount back, but they denied for it was well.
SO ONLY OPTION I HAVE TO FORCEFULY CONTINUE… BUT PLEASE REQUEST YOU ALL TO PLEASE CHECK AND GET ALL YOUR CONDITIONS CLARIFIED FIRST.
I agree with u . We wud never suggest LIVSPACE to anyone. All that u hav written is very much the same that we r going thru. They forced us to pay in the name of target in the 1st meeting itself. They dint let us budge at all . As u said …they denied to pay bak the given amt when we were not satisfied ..we had to forcefully continue with only the kitchen ..instead of the whole house…. bcoz our hard earned money 40k was at stake .. Just a simple kitchen they charged a hefty 3 lakh+. And that also has issues. A local carpenter wud hav charged around 1lakh for a standard kitchen interior like ours….and in fact ,wid hav done a better job.. Livspace never take accountability of their faults. They are always in denial of the truth and facts. THEY R LIARS, CHEATERS. THEY R TRAP SETTERS and HAVE LOTS OF LOOP HOLES.

I have very bad experience with the livspace. They are very unprofessional and provide bad quality products and services. Their team have attitude problem as well who never accepts mistake they done in their design. Their design team is not capable of providing the design and you have to suggest lot of things…Also, while finalizing the cost they do not talk about additional handling charges (12%) and that comes in to picture once you pay your initial booking amount. They are cheater instead local vendors now days better work and executes the plan very well..

what ever has said above is absolutely true, hunain is called as director of livespace mysore branch, informed us that livespace will complete the whole work, but figured out he is a fraud, he brought some other vendor in between informing is that they are from live space, we paid him 90 % of amount now he is blackmailing us that he will not complete the work if we are not paying him more. He didnt even allowed live space to compelte the kitchen, its almost 5 months now, and we are struggling to go to our home as it is not ready. and they says in thier adds they will do the kitchen in 1.5 lkh its all a myth, hunain took almost 15 lkh from us and still nothing is complete. Live space, priya, hunain is a fraud. dont go to them we are still struggling with them and live space mangement does not bother to resolve this issue. i will not update my actual name here sorry but the fact is Hunain is a fraud and he has taken our 15 lakhs and not getting our work done.

Poor and rotten work by Livspace.com
We engaged Livspace for interior work. While getting approval, they showed plate organizer for kitchen work, Later while implementing they comfortably forgot to do that. Also they forgot to put handle for the almirah they did. Now after 2 months the wood laminations started peeling down showing poor quality material used. They will send the module material only after collecting 100% amount. Thereafter they will do something in hurry other than what discussed and agreed and disappear, and nobody bothers.
Consumers should be alert in engaging or dealing with this organization so that they may not take your hard earned money like a Tsunami.

I was about to hand over an advance amount of 12 lakhs to Livspace being 50% of the bill for modular units. I was shocked when my son sent me your review, thank you so much, I am a 74 year old man who was planning to do the interiors of my apartment, thanks to you I now know where not to go.

They take advance promising complete work for a certain amount, and end up charging double for half the promised work. They stop replying or answering your calls when you ask for a refund of your advance deposit. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
Livspace is a totally disaster. They are so bad that it can not be described in words. They take payment in advance and then leave you to suffer. They hire contractors who don’t have any resources ,expertise, ethics and professionalism. They use inferior materials. Cause endless delays. Their work quality is so poor. They will not take care to rectify the problems in workmanship even after reminding them repeatedly. They even don’t pick up phone. Before taking project they will promise everything that project details will be documented with specifications etc and 3 D designs will be provided but nothing happens once you make the payment. They will increase the rates without any logic and will not do the work as promised.
I would never ever recommend Livspace to anybody.
I am facing the same problem. Every time I ask the contracted, she tells the project manager that she will mot be able to complete the project. Blackmail and harassment!
Highly disappointed by @Livspace. No ontime delivery, my work got delayed by 15 days because of there internal disputes, I have to shift my inauguration date, but now, I don’t think that they would be able to finish work on time. Lazy third party team with no professional ethics. To avoid any stress I had trusted Livspace but now I regret my decision. It would be better if I had hired someone else for this work. We are going through so much of mental stress just because of LIVSPACE. Mr. Majid, representative from Livspace, is so good that he is always unavailable for his response. Since November 2022 and till mid of January 2023 they won’t be able to fix a kitchen and to make a 4 step staircase.
I highly do not recommend Livspace to anyone inspite get a nearby interior designer by yourself, because that’s what Livspace do. Atleast there won’t be third party communication gap.
Worst ever experience. My project was assigned In Nov-2021. It was launched on 18 Jan 2022. I found jugglery in billing mainly in electrical work, painting, management charges. Work is done without approval, work not in case of approved design. Quality of work is below ordinary. My excess amount is not yet refunded. Please do not fall prey by following website & founders being IITians. Facts are very different. Now Livspace is asking for “Settlement Document” saying I/we will not disclose the facts to public. We were in need to have possession for which we compromised for deleting various items. They are simply looting, not providing invoices. There ae lot many options.

Took service in the month of May 2022 after discussion for a long period from January 2022. And at last got very bad experience with each and every officials of the company. The Designers take no accountability to design flaws. You have to pay money in advance before the product is delivered, even they will not deliver the materials if you are not paid small amount. So on delivery when you notice a flaw, nothing can be done. Just live with it. I spent over 6.4lacs on their products, and trust me on most of the products the designer goofed up with the dimensions. The service and assembly team are then firefighting to fit in. At last I tried everyone by mail, whatsapp and also by calling them. but none can rectify the flaws.
1) Cupboard – The rod for putting hangers was put is like if I put hangers the hangers are coming out of Slide door. If I close the Slide door the clothes hanged will fall down. I am not joking. The designer then argues that you approved the design. I obviously approved the design but didn’t approve unrealistic dimensions.
2) And we have made a study table and they showed me online, which design I had liked. When the table came even my chair couldn’t go in. It was so small. No ownership taken there, so I have to live with it.
3) And at the dining hall we have made one design with lights, but they have scratched the electric cable and left without fitting. And when I told they did not bother to fit. And the TV cabinet designer showed something and did something like bare without design.
They are totally unprofessional not even responding.

Extremely bad experience with livspace. We have been struggling to finalize our designs and move on to production past 03 months, but the Livspace team is least bothered to deliver the project after onboarding.
There is no Professionalism, no one bothers to respond to your calls. On top of this there are n no. of errors in their measurement and design drawings which shall unnecessarily delay the process.
STAY AWAY FROM LIVSPACE if you want a hassle-free home interior.
I also experienced worst ever . My excess money with Livspace is not refunded even after closure of project since July 22.
Trying to blackmail and dictating though they are at fault. Delayed work,defective job work, excesses billing, not responding to provide me invoices. Not reliable.
