In an effort to control Mr T’s rapidly increasing bald patch, I impulsively decided to buy Hair For Sure Hair Tonic on Amazon.in. It was quite expensive, priced at Rs 800 for 150 ml, but the reviews were great so we decided to give it a shot.
What is Hair for Sure Tonic?
The box as well as the pamphlet gives a LOT of information on baldness and abnormal hair shedding (called alopecia). Specifically, Hair for Sure treats androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness (which can occur in females who are genetically predisposed).
Basically, your hair follicles become sensitive to some hormones (DHT), which causes the follicles to shrink, harden and become inflamed. All these lead to baldness.
Now Hair for Sure uses some breakthrough Rutexil Growth Complex which helps reactivate the follicles, prevent rigidity and prevent inflammation. All this, eventually, leads to hair regrowth.
How to apply Hair for Sure Tonic?
The tonic comes in a nice little bottle with a nozzle on top (in a very oversized cardboard box). You are supposed to directly apply 4 to 8 ml directly on to your scalp after bathing. Let it dry naturally. Apply twice a day — morning and evening. The serum smells quite nice and doesn’t seem to irritate Mr T at all.
Are their any side-effects to the tonic?
There is a tingly feeling that lingers on after applying the tonic to your scalp. This lingers for several hours. Other than that, after one month of use, Mr T is complaining of slight itchiness. (I don’t know if this is just an excuse! I’ve been bugging him to put it twice a day, but he’s only putting it once a day for the past week or so.)

You can download an app which allows you to track your day-by-day progress and take photographs to make before after comparisons. The app is fancy-shmancy but since Mr T didn’t install it on his phone, not very useful for us.

Does it really help hair regrowth /prevent baldness?
Well, after a little over one month of use, yes, we definitely see some positive results. It’s nothing mind-blowing yet, just that the the bald patch doesn’t seem super (squeaky, shiny) bald anymore. There is fine (very, very fine) hair all over the bald patch.
According to the app, it takes 3-6 months to see definitive results so we are going to wait and see!
Update 9 Months Later (August 2016)
Yes, Mr T is still using Hair for Sure on a daily basis. He applies it once every morning, after a shower. While there are no dramatic results like you would see with a hair transplant, his hair loss has stopped. That, in itself, is a great plus, and reason enough to continue. Those fine, little strands of hair covering his bald spot are still fine and haven’t grown much, so if you are expecting a dramatic change of events — look elsewhere.
And to all the mixed experiences and comments below, yes, this is the experience of one individual. It doesn’t guarantee that it will work or not work for you, so please take it with a pinch of salt.

If you are in the initial stages of male or female baldness, I’d definitely suggest giving Hair for Sure Hair tonic a shot. It seems to be completely safe and we’ve had positive results.

Best to apply the product directly on to your scalp on slightly damp hair. After applying the tonic (rubbing gingerly — no massage required) do not apply any other oil.

Hi Amit, stop using any chemicals (gels, etc), and try this product out (This is just a review so it may or may not work for you). You are quite young, so your hairfall is probably either genetic or because of chemicals.

This product works only for hair loss. If you have dandruff, try applying yogurt with lemon juice for 30 minutes and then shampoo. Also try to shampoo less / change your shampoo every few weeks. If it persists, show it to a dermatologist.

Hi Manik, if your hair loss is recent, there is a good chance Hair for Sure will work for you (because your hair follicles are probably still active). You should use shampoo/conditioner as normal and then apply Hair for Sure twice a day (after bathing in the morning and before sleeping at night). You can use oil as well, but no more than once a week, I’d recommend.

Hi Sunny, yes, you should. But try to reduce the frequency of shampooing (couple times a week ideally). We use Himalaya anti-hair fall shampoo and apply Hair for Sure after bathing (leave it on). You should also change your shampoo so that it doesn’t leave too many sediments behind.

Hi Rohan, apply directly to the balding areas and then rub gingerly everywhere. My husband squirts it directly to the top of his scalp and near is forehead region and then rubs it everywhere for a couple of seconds.

Hi Aswhin, we’ve never tried minoxidil so no comment. Hair for Sure is a thin waterlike liquid. This is good because you can leave it on after having a bath without it troubling you at all — no stickiness or oiliness. We don’t have any good pics yet (because of bad lighting of our original photography) but will post as soon as we have.

Hi Arun, yes, it does. My husband has seen some regrowth (thin fine hairs) where it was completely bare (chikna) before. However, having said that, if you have lost hair for a long period of time the follicles have probably died and hence hair growth may not be possible.

Hi Mannu, most male baldness is a hereditary due to the way your genes match up. My husband is 33 years old and it seems to be working for him. If your hair loss is a recent phenomena it should work for you (within the previous 2-3 years).

Hi Ramya, we are using Himalaya Anti-Hairfall shampoo. It’s best to change your shampoo frequently as each shampoo leaves some residue behind. Hair for Sure is not at all oily so its not a problem to put it after bathing.

We’ve been using it for 3 months now and yes, it does seem to be working. My husband too has frontal baldness which was slowly merging with baldness at the top of the head. Hair for Sure seems to have arrested the hair loss and fine hair appears to be appearing in the places which were completely bare previously. If you seriously want to give Hair for Sure a shot I’d say try it for at least 6 months to see if it has any positive effect. Not sure if it will stop working after you stop using it.

Hi PNG — no harm trying this out. We’ve been using it for the past 2 months or so and the results. The results haven’t been mind-blowing yet, but not bad. I am also thoroughly disappointed with the product . After a few applications , I had itching and rashes all over my scalp . I had to immediately stop it and use some ointments to cure the rash and itching . Bogus product for a very high price.
